ARTZ New York City

Lauren Volkmer, the New York City coordinator for ARTZ, is originally from North Carolina but became a New York transplant in 1999.  She has worked as a professional performer for ten years, appearing in local and regional theatre, cabaret, film, and television.

Since 2004 she has been blessed with the opportunity to work creatively with many people affected by Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers.  As a result, Lauren went on to earn a master’s degree in social work at Columbia University, focusing on program development for the aging population.  In addition to her work with ARTZ over the years, Lauren has worked on projects with the Early Alzheimer’s Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association New York City Chapter, and To Whom I May Concern, a theatre-based project based on the experiences of, and performed by people living with dementia.

Tiffany Paige is a graduate from Parson’s School of Design, having worked on costumes in the film industry before taking her focus to fashion design. She then moved her creative eye to the sets of photo styling and jewelry design before launching the Sacramento chapter of ARTZ. After she lost her grandfather to Alzheimer’s and personally experienced the healing power of art, Tiffany developed a strong desire to use her creativity in a way that would make a difference in the lives of others, particularly those still living with Alzheimer’s and related dementia. She developed an art liaison program, creating individualized art sessions for people living with dementia on hospice care. Continuing her work with memory care residents and their families in an assisted living facility in Sacramento, Tiffany uses art and imagination as a means of encouraging, nurturing and celebrating the lives of seniors.
